‘Deploy additional doctors in dispensaries to reduce crowd at PGI’

In a review meeting, Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore ordered the Director of Health Department to deploy additional doctors in dispensaries located in different sectors of the city so that people don’t need to visit OPD of Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, or Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI).

The administrator said that health facilities in dispensaries should be increased so that people don’t visit GMSH-16 or PGI for minor ailments.

The administrator also said that DC Mandeep Singh Brar should ensure that the guidelines related to Covid are strictly followed during the festive season.

Corona infection rate in the city is just 6.6%

PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram said that 134 serious coronary patients are admitted in the Nehru Extension Block. Of these, 39 belong to Chandigarh, 55 are from Punjab, 19 from Haryana, 13 from Himachal Pradesh and 8 from other states. It was reported that out of 381 corona samples taken by him, 34 were found positive.

PGI doctor Madhu said that corona vaccine was tested on 81 volunteers, out of which 65 patients have completed one week and all are being monitored. Director of Health Department, Dr Amandeep Kang said that out of 1,284 corona samples taken by her, only 85 were found positive. She said that according to the sample taken in the city, the infection rate of covid-19 is just 6.6%.
