Delhi Police has announced cash rewards for providing information on several suspects, including Punjabi artist Deep Sidhu, who have been accused of violence on January 26 in Delhi. Sidhu has been accused of inciting and leading protesting farmers on tractors to the Red Fort, where a religious flag was unfurled on Republic Day.
The police have announced ₹1 lakh cash reward each for information on Jugraj Singh, who had climbed the flagpole at the Red Fort and unfurled the religious flag; Gurjot Singh and Gurjant Singh. Further, ₹50,000 cash reward each for information leading to the arrest of Jajbir Singh, Buta Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Iqbal Singh has also been declared. All the above-named people allegedly played a role in instigating the January 26 violence in the national capital.
Delhi Police last tracked Deep Sidhu’s location in Bihar, where he has been reported to be hiding. Delhi Police has left for Bihar and also contacted the state police.
So far, Delhi Police has arrested 38 miscreants in the January 26 violence case and 44 cases have been registered. Sidhu had posted videos on his social media claiming that he was hurt by charges against him. “Despite leaving my whole life behind, I came to join the Punjabis in their protest. But I was labelled a traitor. All I did was raise a voice for your rights. Since so many months, I’ve been meeting everyone on roads, in tents, dealing with the government. There were five lakh people on Republic Day but one (Sidhu himself), was labelled a traitor,” he said in a 15-minute-long video posted on Facebook in Punjabi.
