Chandigarh on Thursday reported 324 Covid cases, taking the tally to 29,521. Mohali reported 456 cases and Panchkula reported 239, taking the tally of tricity to 1,009.

In the ongoing second Covid-19 wave, Mohali district seems to be the worst affected as in the last one month the district has reported around 8,500 cases. Between March 6 and April 6, the state reported 69,709 cases and 1,306 deaths, with around 12% cases and 6% deaths from Mohali district only.
All ICU beds full in PGI; 50% patients are from Punjab
The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) has issued a clarification on a statement issued by the Punjab Health Department citing that it was refusing to admit patients from Punjab, despite being referred to it through proper channel. The institute has clarified that it admitted only severe and critically ill Covid patients in the NHE Covid Block. At present, 50% of the total 166 patients admitted to the PGI, belong to Punjab. All ICU beds in the Covid Block are full and 50% of these are occupied by patients from Punjab.
Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh stated that he would take up the matter with the Prime Minister at a video conference and would request him to direct the PGI to reserve at least 50 ICU beds for patients referred by the state government.
P’kula private hospitals run out of Covid ICU beds
In Panchkula district, the active caseload currently stands at 1,167, which has resulted in 100% ICU bed occupancy in private hospitals and only two are available at the Civil Hospital, Sector 6. Of the 219 critical patients in all of Haryana (as of April 7), 85 are in Panchkula alone, which is about 39%.
