The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted around 32 domestic flights going from Chandigarh Airport to other cities. In summer, 44 domestic flights were to operate from Chandigarh instead of 35, but due to the continuous decline in the number of passengers due to Covid, only 12 flights are operational.
Moreover, out of these 12 flights, one flight each from Kullu and Dharamsala depends on the number of passengers. Both these flights are operated only after all the seats are booked. Overall, only 10 domestic flights are running daily to other cities.
This summer, four new cities were to be connected by air travel from Chandigarh Airport. But due to the second wave of Covid, direct flights to four cities (Dehradun, Leh, Jodhpur and Jammu) could not be started. Also, flights to five cities, including Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune, have also been cancelled.
Before the second wave, 12 flights were operating for Delhi and 9 for Mumbai. But now, due to the low passenger graph, only 5 flights are operational for Delhi and 3 for Mumbai.
For Delhi, Air India’s flights run at 7.05am and 9.15am, Indigo at 11.55am, 2.10pm and 5.20 pm, and Vistara at 3.25pm. While the first flight to Mumbai is GoAir at 11.30am, he second is Vistara at 12.55pm and third is IndiGo at 1.40pm.
Earlier, there were 4 flights to Srinagar but now only 2 are flying. They are: Go Air which take off from Chandigarh at 12.20pm and 5pm. Apart from this, 4 flights used to go to Ahmedabad, now only one Go Air flight runs at 4.05pm.
