A security guard associated with the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) named Kulwinder Kaur has just been suspended for slapping Kangana Ranaut, the newly elected BJP Lok Sabha MP, during an altercation at Chandigarh Airport. Their disagreement is believed to have come from a statement by Kangana about protests involving farmers that also contained insults to the protesters.
Ms. Ranaut, who was traveling to Delhi, did not address the media upon arrival but later posted a video expressing her outrage. In the video, she accused Ms. Kaur of attacking her at the airport security check-in area. “The woman guard waited for me to cross, then she came and hit me… started throwing expletives. I asked her why she hit me. She said, ‘I support farmers’. I am safe… but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” Ms. Ranaut stated.
The incident, captured on mobile footage that quickly went viral, shows Ms. Ranaut being escorted to a check-in counter, where a verbal altercation ensued. However, the video does not clearly show the alleged slap.
Ms. Kaur, who reportedly comes from a farming family, explained her actions as a reaction to Ms. Ranaut’s past comments about the farmers’ protests. “She gave a statement that farmers are sitting there for ₹100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement…” Ms. Kaur referred to Ms. Ranaut’s controversial post from 2020. The post, which disparaged an elderly woman participating in the protests, provoked great indignation and was later removed by Ranaut.
Ms. Kaur has been suspended from her duties and faces a police case as authorities investigate the incident.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has confirmed that an inquiry is underway. “Action will be taken against the accused. It is sad a person involved in security is involved in this. Whatever happened was wrong,” he stated.
