Cold wave conditions are very likely in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and other regions for the next two days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday. The IMD has issued an orange alert on Thursday and Friday. Cold wave is declared when minimum temperature falls 4.5- 6.4°C below normal after going below 10°C.
“Cold wave conditions very likely in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh Rajasthan, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh during the next two days,” said IMD.
According to weatherman, dense fog is likely to continue on Thursday, but will reduce from Friday onwards.
“Dense fog in isolated pockets very likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh during the morning of December 17,” IMD stated.
IMD has also predicted a fall in minimum temperatures by two to three degrees Celsius over parts of the plains of northwest India and Maharashtra during the next two to three days.
