The UT administration was thinking of opening a first-of-its-kind sky dining restaurant in Chandigarh at a height of 165ft. However, the companies did not show much interest in the first tender issued for it, so the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) has issued the second tender and sought applications.
The administration wants to start this restaurant on a revenue share basis for which interested agencies can apply by January 29. There will also be a pre-bid meeting on January 22.
This sky dining restaurant will be run in Leisure Valley, where food will be served in a 24-seater restaurant by moving it to a height of 160 feet through a crane. It has been named Fly Dining Restaurant. An administration official said that in the first tender two companies had shown interest, but one of the companies wanted to work on its own terms. Due to this, it was rejected and after that only one company survived, due to which the tender had to be cancelled.
Earlier, the administration was considering to start this restaurant at Sukhna Lake or Kaimbwala. But, due to concerns including wildlife, it could not be opened there.
People will be able to enjoy food till 10 pm at this sky dining restaurant and the dinner time for a customer will be fixed at 40 minutes. Similar restaurants are being run in Bangalore, Noida and Agra.
