Punjab’s Chitkara University on August 22-23, 2024, organized the first-ever “CBSE Exposure Visit” in association with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The two-day conference created a platform for the educators to deliberate upon ways of improving school teaching and share successful experiences and vibrant new thoughts.
Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University, opened the floor with an exciting keynote lecture that displayed the institution’s commitment to educational excellence. An extensive lecture on the institution’s novel efforts and scholarly accomplishments was given by Dr. Sandhir Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Chitkara University.
Rajiv Sharma, Under Secretary at CBSE, delivered the guest of honour address, emphasizing the evolving role of CBSE from a traditional examination body to a multifaceted organization encompassing academic units, skill development programs, and training centres. Sharma expressed gratitude for Chitkara University’s partnership and encouraged active engagement from school principals in learning and networking opportunities to bridge the gap between school and higher education.
In the course of the event, attendees were led on a thorough tour of Chitkara University’s contemporary amenities, allowing them to witness for themselves the advanced setting backing
the higher education aspirations at this institution. After that, there was a graciously fruitful consultation time among different departmental leaders who were all interested in new trends in academic methodology and materials.
Day two of the CBSE Exposure Visit continued with sessions on skill education in alignment with NEP 2020. Dr. Parul Sood, Assistant Dean of Academics, led a session on integrating skill education within NEP 2020, while Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal, Dean of Chitkara Business School, addressed multidisciplinary skilling through the National Credit Framework.
Dr. Komal Chawla led a talk on the psycho-pedagogical bridge, which looked at how psychological concepts might be integrated with educational practices. The day ended with a lively cultural presentation organised by the Office of Student Affairs, which showcased student talent and celebrated the university’s vast cultural variety.
A session led by Dr. Vani Parvez focused on peer feedback, providing a platform for participants to share insights and reflect on the day’s experiences. Dr. Sangeeta Pant, Dean of the Department of Education, delivered the final vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved.
Dr. Madhu Chitkara reflected on the event’s success, stating, “The CBSE Exposure Visit has been a pivotal initiative in knowledge sharing and collaboration, enhancing our commitment to transformative educational practices. The insights gained will significantly impact our pursuit of educational excellence.”
A participating principal praised the event, highlighting the valuable knowledge and innovative strategies presented, which will be implemented in her institution to align with NEP 2020.
