Punjab Chief Secretary inaugurates in-line baggage screening system at Chandigarh Int’l Airport

In an endeavour to facilitate the passengers, Chandigarh International Airport has installed an in-line baggage screening system, informed Vini Mahajan, Punjab Chief Secretary, after its inauguration on Thursday.

The in-line system will reduce the baggage handling time to half with respect to standalone screening. It can handle 1500 bags/hour. With new system in place, passengers no longer need to personally queue up for baggage screening.

The baggage screening system is expected to aid hassle free check-in and save on an average 5 to10 minutes time per passenger. The project was completed with a cost of ₹ 15.8 crore and has been integrated with existing baggage handling system. Mahajan also held a meeting with the officials in the Conference Hall and discussed about the issues related to further development of the Chandigarh Airport.
