In view of the increasing number of tourists at the Mahendra Zoological Park or Chhatbir Zoo, the zoo administration has written a letter to the government seeking approval for entry of more people. As many as 2,700 tourists are allowed on the weekends at the zoo according to the Covid guidelines given by the government. However, since January 1, the number of tourists has been steadily increasing at the zoo.
The zoo was reopened on December 10 after a gap of nine months due to the lockdown and in around a week’s time, almost 11,000 people had visited it.

Online booking facility is available for parking, battery operated vehicle, lion safari, bicycle, video camera. Apart from this, food items can also be booked online. Bird aviary of Chhatbir Zoo has been closed as a precaution due to the bird flu until further orders from the state government.
