India on Wednesday scripted history with the successful soft landing of its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole region of the Moon. With this achievement, India has become the first country to land on the Moon’s challenging south pole region.The space agency Isro announced the landing and wrote, “‘India, I reached my destination and you too!’: Chandrayaan-3.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “joyous occasion” of great success and said “this success belongs to all humanity.”
“India’s successful Moon mission is not just India’s alone, this is a year in which the world is witnessing India’s G20 presidency. Our approach of One Earth, One Family, One Future is resonating across the globe. This human-centric approach that we present has been welcomed universally. Our Moon mission is also based on the same human-centric approach. The success of the lunar mission places India in a select group of nations to successfully achieve a landing on the lunar surface. It is all the more significant because India is the only nation to have achieved a lunar landing on the south pole of the Moon.”This will herald new avenues in scientific research and discovery. This represents a milestone in the march of the nation. My heartiest congratulations to Team Isro and the scientific community on this historic achievement. They have made the entire nation proud”.Businessman Gautam Adani said India’s “orbit continue to expand”.Chandrayaan-3 is India’s third lunar mission aimed at studying the Moon’s geology, its water resources, and its potential for future human exploration.
