India on Wednesday scripted history with the successful soft landing of its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole region of the Moon. With this achievement, India has become the first country to land on the Moon’s challenging south pole region.The space agency Isro announced the landing and wrote, “‘India, I reached my destination and you too!’: Chandrayaan-3.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “joyous occasion” of great success and said “this success belongs to all humanity.”
“India’s successful Moon mission is not just India’s alone, this is a year in which the world is witnessing India’s G20 presidency. Our Moon mission is also based on the same human-centric approach. The success of the lunar mission places India in a select group of nations to successfully achieve a landing on the lunar surface. It is all the more significant because India is the only nation to have achieved a lunar landing on the south pole of the Moon.”This will herald new avenues in scientific research and discovery.
