Chandigarh administration revises time of night curfew from 9pm to 5am

Chandigarh Administration on Friday again revised the time of the night curfew from 9pm to 5am.

A release from the administration said that Sukhna Lake will remain close on Saturday and Sunday. Museums, libraries, spas and such public places will remain closed. Hostels and residential educational institutions have been asked to ensure that only students whose stay is unavoidable are allowed to remain. Heads of such institutions must ensure those that remain are tested.

Estate Office, Sub-Registrar Office & RLA Office, where several infections were detected will be closed until April 30. Also, the ruling Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in Haryana decided to close the party office and deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala’s residence in Chandigarh to visitors for the next two weeks after some of the staff tested positive for Covid-19.

On the other hand, Chandigarh reported 828 new Covid-19 positive cases on Friday, which is highest so far. The city was crossing ‘600’ mark consecutively for the last five days. Three deaths due were also reported in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 430.

As per the information released by the Health Department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 4,622. In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 4,062 samples.
