The city’s second ‘Prarambh’ store was inaugurated on Friday, 23 August 2024, by Mayor Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor at the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 17. Deputy Mayor Rajinder Sharma graced the event with his presence along with other Councillors and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation.
The second store is aimed at reaching out to more customers following the success achieved by the first store which was opened in August 2023 at Shop No. 2, Sector 17, close to the Smart City Office. These stores specialize in eco-friendly products with an emphasis on collective social responsibility and fairness while keeping them at an affordable price point.
Residents visiting the ‘Prarambh’ stores can explore a wide selection of sustainable items, including incense sticks and cones crafted from floral waste, handmade candles, wall paintings, and special Janmashtami hampers. Apart from this, shops have a variety of personalized presents and souvenirs for sale including paintings, hoops, resin preservation for flowers, photo frames and crocheted toys.
This adds to Chandigarh Municipal Corporation’s continuous efforts that encourage residents to adopt sustainable practices to complement its larger aim of an environmentally sound and socially responsible city.
