Chandigarh has received excellent rating in ‘Adverse Events Following Immunization’ (AEFI) by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. Chandigarh reported 0.4% AEFI cases as per the CoWIN portal.
Besides, the states of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal were also adjudged excellent in the category.
In the category of ‘good performing’, Bihar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Karnataka, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan and Telangana bagged positions.
The states and UTs are ranked every quarter on the basis of their performance in AEFI surveillance (reporting, investigation and casualty assessment of cases). Weighted scores are given to each state and UT on the basis of their performance on a cumulative basis in a year.
Chandigarh has reported 17 AEFI cases in the last financial year as against 41 reported in the fiscal 2019-20.
A 54% increase in submission of preliminary investigation record for the reported AEFI cases is observed in the financial year 2020-21 as compared to the fiscal 2019-20.
Till now, 4,24,931 people have been administered the Covid-19 vaccine in Chandigarh. The focus will now be to reach out to priority and vulnerable groups, especially now that the new policy for Covid-19 vaccination in India will come into effect on June 21.
