In the light of surging Covid-19 cases in Chandigarh, the UT Administration has decided to extend the Corona curfew for another week. Earlier, the curfew was imposed for a week from May 3 to May 10.
The non-essential shops will continue to remain closed during the curfew and night curfew will be implemented from 6pm to 5am. Day time movement will be allowed. However, the residents have been advised to avoid non-essential travel. Morning walkers will be allowed from 6am to 9am and Sukhna Lake will remain closed.
The decision was taken during the war room meeting, headed by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore. The administration has also imposed other curbs.
The administration has restricted the gathering in marriages and funerals. The maximum number of guests allowed in marriage events has been limited to 20 persons in marriage, for which written permission from Deputy Commissioner will be needed. For the funeral, the number has been restricted to 10. No separate permission will be required.
During the meeting, Chandigarh Administrator stressed that there should be an audit of each fatality so that the line of medical treatment could be improved and lapses, if any, could be rectified.
