Chandigarh deputy commissioner (DC) Mandip Singh Brar tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
He is the second UT official to test positive for the infection. Earlier, UT finance secretary Ajoy Kumar Sinha tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday.
Brar had met Sinha on Thursday at an official meeting at the UT Secretariat, Sector 9.
The development comes as Chandigarh has been reporting higher number of coronavirus cases with the tally standing over 3,000. A superintendent in the DC office had also tested positive last week, consequently, the DC office was sealed for two days for sanitisation.
