Chandigarh Congress Protests, Demands JPC Probe into Hindenburg-Adani Allegations

On Thursday, in Sector 18 of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office, the Congress party’s Chandigarh unit, which is under the leadership of its president HS Lucky, took a stand against the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch’s removal. The group has urged for an investigation into allegations by Hindenburg Research against her through a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and called for her expulsion.

A handful of individuals from the Congress party protested in Chandigarh against the corrupt government controlled by the BJP. The protesters were bearing party flags and banners. According to Chandigarh Police, the heavy presence was due to barricades that were built to keep the protesters at bay away from the ED headquarters.

In Chandigarh, the members of the Congress party staged a protest against the BJP for being corrupt. Protesters were holding party flags and banners. The Chandigarh Police made sure that there was enough presence at the site, where they erected barricades to stop demonstrators from getting near the ED headquarters.

Addressing the crowd, HS Lucky criticized the Modi government for its alleged inaction on corruption, stating, “The same prime minister who once claimed ‘na khaunga na khane dunga’ is now turning a blind eye to rampant corruption.” He further accused the government of eroding its reputation through recent scandals, including incidents of collapsed newly built bridges and paper leaks, which have raised questions about the government’s integrity.

Lucky also targeted central agencies like the ED, accusing them of selectively targeting opposition figures while ignoring more significant issues. “The ED and other agencies act swiftly on minor matters involving the opposition, but where are they now when serious allegations have been made?” he questioned.

The protest saw the participation of a large number of Congress office-bearers, including vice presidents, general secretaries, secretaries, joint secretaries, district presidents, and heads of various frontal organizations like the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, and NSUI, along with several municipal councillors.

The Chandigarh Congress has vowed to continue its agitation until a JPC is formed to probe the allegations, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in the investigation.
