Chandigarh: All shops allowed to open from 9am to 3pm; night curfew to continue

Chandigarh administration said after a meeting on Monday that it would allow shops to reopen from 9am to 3pm and the night curfew will continue from 6pm to 5am. The weekend curfew will be imposed in Chandigarh from 6pm (on Friday, May 28, 2021) to 5am (Monday, May 31, 2021). During the weekend curfew, only essential shops will be allowed to remain open.

Shops must be thoroughly sanitised and both staff at such shops as well as customers must wear masks. All Market Associations must ensure masks are available at the shop as well as at entry points to such markets, the order said.

All shopping malls, cinema halls, theatres, museums, gym, libraries, spa, salons, Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden will continue to remain closed.

Restaurants will not be allowed any in-room dining.  However, home delivery and take-aways will be allowed. Sampark Centres in Chandigarh will remain open and Covid protocol will be strictly followed.

As far as possible, the private sector employees should work from home.  No action will be taken against private offices remaining open, wherever necessary. The Sport Centres will remain open for national players and those preparing for Olympic and national games

The decisions were taken in the war room meeting chaired by UT administrator VP Singh Badnore. He also stated that restrictions will be reviewed and re-imposed, if corona situation does not improve in the city.
