On the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Chandigarh administration has started uploading data of available beds as well as occupied beds in government and private hospitals on the administration’s website: http://chandigarh.gov.in/
“As directed by the High Court, data on availability of hospital beds will be uploaded daily on the UT Administration website,” said UT Adviser Manoj Parida.
“Moreover, a special oxygen helpline number – 0172-2752063 has also been set up,” he added.
Two mini Covid-care centres with 50 beds each were also established by the Competent Foundation and Bharat Vikas Parishad, an NGO, which became operational at Indira Holiday Home in Sector 24.
A mini-Covid care centre with 50-bed capacity has also been made operational at Working Women Hostel, Bal Bhawan, Sector 23-B, informed nodal officer Yashpal Garg.
He said the Covid centres at Indira Holiday Home and Working Women Hostel had been attached with Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, for the regulation of admission of patients, list of medicines required to be kept at the centre, periodic visit by doctors for guidance and arrangements of ambulance to shift the patients to appropriate hospital.
Keeping in view the increasing number of Covid cases in the city, the UT Administration has given a clarion call for setting up mini Covid care centres voluntarily by various social organisations and associations.
The tricity registered 1,056 Covid cases on Wednesday, the highest so far, and 38 deaths. Mohali district registered 17 deaths due to Covid-19, the highest since the start of the pandemic. Chandigarh recorded 817 Covid-19 cases, taking the number of active cases to 8,363, and 14 deaths.
