Bus tracking app launched in Chandigarh

Punjab governor and UT Administrator VPS Badnore launched Intelligent Transport System (ITS) on Friday which will help the commuters to track the local Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) buses on their mobiles.

Residents can download “trycityBUS” application to get all the information about timings, fare, routes and location of nearby bus stops. They can get information of the exact location and timings of the buses and the alternate routes available for their travel.

This system will enable digital monitoring of entire bus network in Chandigarh. There will be four cameras inside each bus to monitor. An emergency button (panic button) will be available, both for the driver and the passengers to solicit urgent help from the police and ambulance, if needed.

The digital system will enable monitoring exact location of buses, collection of revenue and the load of passengers in each route.

This system has been developed by system integrator M/s Amnex Info Technologies.

CTU is planning to cover the entire fleet of 350 buses in next few months. The project is part funded by World Bank and will be completed by end of this year.
