The President of India appointed Governors of various states, today.
Meanwhile, the President of India appointed Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Tamil Nadu holding additional charge of the Governor of Punjab, as regular Governor of Punjab. RN Ravi, Governor of Nagaland is appointed as Governor of Tamil Nadu. Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd.) is appointed as Governor of Uttarakhand and Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam is appointed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Nagaland in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements are made.
Earlier, on August 27, the President of India had appointed Purohit as Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh, in addition to his duties as Governor of Punjab and Tamil Nadu. However, as per the latest commune, he has been only appointed as Punjab Governor.
In a press commune, it has been informed that, the President of India has also accepted the resignation of Baby Rani Maurya as Governor of Uttarakhand.
