Ban on sale of goods related to the army, police and paramilitary without an identity card

Chandigarh Administration has imposed a ban on sale of goods related to the army, police and paramilitary without an identity card. This step was taken in view of various terrorist incidents. Deputy commissioner (DC) Mandeep Singh Brar issued the orders in this regard which will come in force from Wednesday to January 16, 2021.

The DC said in the order that it was noticed that terrorists use uniforms, stickers, logos, flags, etc, of Indian Army, Police, Paramilitary Force in terrorist incidents. To prevent such incidents, it has been decided that the sale of such goods will be monitored by the administration. From Wednesday, no shopkeeper in the city will be able to sell any goods belonging to the army, police and para military force to anyone without an identity card.  According to the order, the shopkeepers who sell police, paramilitary force and army uniforms and other accessories will keep complete records. They will note the identity card, mobile number and address of the customers. If a shopkeeper does not do so, action will be taken against him under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
