Balbir Sidhu flags 22 IEC awareness vans, informs about Covid status in Punjab

Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu flagged off 22 IEC awareness vans under Mission Fateh. He said that these vans would visit the urban and high-risk areas of Punjab to make the public aware about Coronavirus and other diseases. COVID-19 tests will also be conducted during this campaign. These vans are equipped with print and audio-visual material.

Sidhu said that there will be one awareness van per district and a micro plan for the same has been prepared. The Health Minister said that so far more than 31 lakh samples have been collected in the state out of which 1,49,278 cases were reported positive.

Facilities in Punjab

In Punjab, there are seven laboratories conducting Covid testing. As many as 1,500 ICU beds for critical patient care, 855 ventilators and more than 8,000 oxygen beds have been arranged to provide quality services to Covid patients.

Sidhu informed that 25,000 to 30,000 Covid tests were being conducted daily out of which 75% are RT-PCR tests. Corona Fateh Kits were also being provided to patients in home isolation. These kits include thermometer, pulse oximeter, steamer, essential medicines, and awareness material. Similarly, post Covid-19 care kits are being provided to the recovered patients in hospitals. He also appealed to the public to follow the norms such as wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands.
