UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore will inaugurate municipal corporation’s (MC’s) petrol pump located in Industrial Area, Phase 2, on Wednesday. This is the second petrol pump of MC, which will be operational in a month. In a crucial move to increase its revenue, MC hopes to earn the target of ₹3 crore annually through these pumps.
Commissioner KK Yadav said that the petrol pump on Vikas Marg, Sector 51-A, which was inaugurated mid-October, is now functioning and the pump at industrial area is now ready.
The civic body has tied up with India Oil Corporation (IOC) and on September 23, the MC had signed a contract with the IOC. Earlier in September, senior officials of IOC and MC had visited both sights. The MC, which is facing financial crisis, will get some relief from the introduction of these pumps. Till now, MC buys fuel worth ₹1 crore each year for its vehicles and its commission used to go to pump operator. With these new pumps, the MC will fuel its own vehicles and get the commission.
