- Until 9am, Amethi recorded 8.67 per cent voting. While Ayodhya had 9.44 per cent, Bahraich had 7.45 per cent, Barabanki 6.21 per cent, Chitrakoot 8.80 per cent, Gonda 8.31 per cent, Kaushambi 11.40 per cent, Pratapgarh 6.95 per cent, Prayagraj 6.95 per cent, Raebareli 7.48 per cent, Shrawasti 9.67 per cent and Sultanpur 8.60 per cent, according to the data by Election Commission.
- In Prayagraj district, a total of 5,080 polling booth have been set up across 2,236 polling stations. This include 351 booths designated as critical. Webcasting facility is provided at 3,072 polling booths, while 240 videographers too have been engaged.
Ayodhya and Amethi – viewed as crucial in the national politics – are voting on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh where polling is being held across 12 districts for the fifth phase of the assembly elections. Of 61 constituencies that are polling, 58 are in eastern UP. Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is among the key contenders in this phase.
After the fifth phase, voting will be held for 111 constituncies on March 3 and March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
