Arvind Kejriwal promises 300 units of free electricity for each house in Punjab if AAP comes to power

In his poll-bound visit to Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that the state is getting ready for a new dawn. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Punjab is getting ready for a new dawn.”

The Delhi CM made major announcements in Chandigarh during his press conference. “Punjab is a major producer of the electricity but still has the highest tariff. Even though, Delhi does not have a plant for electricity, we have cheapest electricity. The AAP leaders have been holding agitation in the Punjab for last one year concerning costly electricity. The AAP leaders have been raising concerns about the public. Visit any village of Punjab, the people are troubled due to the high tariff,” said Kejriwal while addressing the public.

“Delhi provides good facilities and still provides free electricity and water. But in Punjab, where does the money go?”

He announced that if AAP government is formed in state in 2022, it will guarantee three things. First, his government will provide upto 300 units free power to every household in the state. Secondly, he will waive all pending bills of people and connections will be restored. Lastly, he said that AAP will provide 24*7 power supply to the people of the state.

On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal had promised free electricity in Punjab if Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins the polls.

“In Delhi, we provide 200 units of free electricity to every family. The women are very happy. Women in Punjab are also very unhappy with inflation. The AAP government will also provide free electricity in Punjab. See you tomorrow in Chandigarh,” he had tweeted in Punjabi.

Earlier on June 21, Kejriwal had announced that the party’s chief ministerial candidate for Punjab will be from the Sikh community.

In 2017 Assembly polls, Congress won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government after 10 years. AAP had emerged as the second-largest party, winning 20 seats in the 117-member Punjab Legislative Assembly. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could only manage to win 15 seats while the BJP secured 3 seats.
