Apple has sent invites for a ‘special Apple event’ on October 13, which is likely to be the launch event of iPhone 12.
Generally, the Apple invites contain hints about what to expect, but this invite just shows a series of circles, and the words “Hi, Speed”. The virtual event will be beamed from the Steve Jobs Theater on the tech giant’s campus and the event will start at 10:30 pm IST.
The invite could be a hint towards 5G speeds, as the new iPhone 12 models are expected to support high-speed 5G connectivity. Apple hasn’t shared any further details.
Aside from the iPhone 12, Apple is expected to launch a new lineup of iPhones, a smaller HomePod smart speaker, over-ear headphones, an all-new Apple TV streaming box, and the rumoured Tile-like location tracking device.
Other reports also suggest that the upcoming iPhone 12 models might be more expensive compared to the previous years. Early speculation has suggested a price of $699 to $749 (roughly ₹51,300 to ₹55,000). Some leaks suggest that only the iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with the faster mmWave 5G technology, while other models of the phone will support the more common Sub-6GHz 5G.
The price of the phones in India will be higher as other costs such as shipping, customs, taxes, etc will be factored in the equation as well. Rumour has it that the iPhone 12 would feature a boxier design with flat edges, similar to how the iPad Pro looks. Additionally, the Pro lineup is expected to include a new LiDAR sensor that would give the iPhone 3D depth mapping capabilities.
