In a startling development in the alleged Sandeshkali sexual assault case, a victim has come forward with a shocking allegation against individuals associated with the Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP). The woman claims that she was lured into signing a blank paper, which falsely accused members of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of raping her. Subsequently, she withdrew her rape complaint, citing undue pressure and social ostracism.
According to reports from TOI, the woman lodged a fresh complaint at the Sandeshkhali Police Station, highlighting threats and social alienation following her decision to retract rape allegations against TMC workers. This revelation has sparked a heated political debate between the TMC and the BJP, exacerbating tensions in the already volatile landscape of Bengal’s Sandeshkhali.
Speaking to the media, the woman disclosed that she and several other women intended to lodge complaints about the non-receipt of funds under the 100-day Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme. However, they were allegedly coerced into signing a blank paper implicating TMC members in sexual assault.

“I informed them that we hadn’t received payment for the job card (MNREGA) and cooking. We solely sought our rightful entitlements and had no ulterior motives,” she asserted. Denying any instance of rape, she emphasised her innocence and condemned the manipulation orchestrated by certain individuals.
Meanwhile, the TMC, reeling from accusations against its local party leaders for offences ranging from rape to land grab and extortion, is now leveraging the woman’s allegation to shift blame onto the BJP. Accusing the BJP of fabricating narratives to tarnish the ruling party’s reputation, the TMC seeks to capitalise on the woman’s retraction to deflect attention from its own internal challenges.
In response, the TMC sources have announced plans to lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against BJP leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari, alleging their involvement in orchestrating false accusations.
