All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the cutoff date of admissions for all engineering, diploma courses in Punjab to 31st December.
This announcement was made by Dr MP Poonia, vice chairman, AICTE & professor, during the Shiksha Utthan Samvad organised by Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) & Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA).
Around 400 technical colleges and many students will be benefited who were seeking admissions but could not were due to the farmers protest and Rail Roko Andolan. Dr MP Poonia said that, “The biggest challenge is the infrastructure. Almost 50% infrastructure is not utilised in the country. India has a capacity of 37 lakh students in the technical institutes and only 20 lakh students get admission. Out of the admitted students, 13 lakh graduates and only 7 lakh get jobs.”
