Action against police officials if drugs found selling in their jurisdiction: Dy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa

Punjab Deputy Chief MinisterSukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday, appreciated the Punjab Police citing that the force has been doing great job in preventing crime and breaking drug supply besides ensuring security of people in the state.

Randhawa, who also holds charge of Home Department, was chairing a crime review meeting at Lake View here. He was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary Varun Roojam and Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota.Deputy Chief Minister Randhawa, while interacting with media, said that the Union government is encroaching on the rights of the Punjab Government by expanding the border area in the state and they won’t let it happen.

Replying to another question, he said that no one would be spared in cases of sacrilege to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.On Aam Aadmi Party, Randhawa said that AAP had no base in the state as three of it’s MLAs belonging to Bathinda Parliament including Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Nazar Singh Manshahia and Jagdev Kamalu have joined the Congress party and more leaders are expected to join the Congress party.He said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been taking historic decisions for the state and every section of society is happy with the revolutionary decisions.

“Congress Government is in fact the government of the common man,” he added.Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Randhawa held a special meeting with IGs, DIGs and District Police Chiefs of Bathinda, Ferozepur and Faridkot Police Ranges to review the crime situation. He also reviewed the work being done on crime and drug prevention in these ranges. Randhawa strongly instructed the officers that if any drug smuggler was caught selling or selling drugs in their jurisdiction, strict action would be taken against the concerned police personnel. He also directed the authorities not to use any laxity in ensuring the safety of the people and curbing crime.Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister, accompanied by Senior Congress Leader Jaijit Johal and Venu Badal, wife of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal also held a special meeting with traders of Bathinda.

Traders thanked the state government for the historic and revolutionary decisions taken by the government including slashing the rates of electricity, water, petrol, diesel and sand.
