AAP Collaborates with Congress to Form Coordination Committee

With just over three weeks left until Delhi heads to the polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken a significant step by establishing a coordination committee in the capital to work closely with the Congress party on the ground.

The move comes after the AAP’s earlier announcement of its campaign, ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ in four constituencies—East, West, South, and New Delhi—leaving out the remaining three where Congress has fielded its candidates—North East, North West, and Chandni Chowk. This selective campaigning raised questions, but APP leader Gopal Rai had hinted at the possibility of collaboration if Congress made a request.

However, in a noteworthy shift on May 3, Rai stood alongside Congress candidate Udit Raj as he filed his nomination for the North West constituency, signaling newfound cooperation between the two parties.

The committee, led by AAP’s Rajinder Nagar MLA Durgesh Pathak, includes seven members, each assigned to coordinate efforts in specific constituencies: Rajesh Gupta in New Delhi, Naresh Balyan in West Delhi, Dinesh Mohaniya in South Delhi, Pawan Sharma in Chandini Chowk, Mukesh Alwahat in the North West, Sanjeev Jha in the North East, and Dilip Pandey in East Delhi.

Furthermore, AAP has appointed coordinators for each of the seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi to facilitate efficient collaboration with the Congress. These coordinators, including, the MLAs mentioned above, will work towards maximizing voter turnout and ensuring a smooth transfer of votes between the alliance partners.

Pathak expressed confidence in the alliance’s prospects, citing dissatisfaction with the BJP’s performance and highlighting the AAP’s track record in Delhi. He stressed the importance of voters recognizing the Delhi government’s accomplishments and urged them to support the INDIA bloc candidates to secure seats in all seven constituencies.
