A man from J&K was shot dead in Mohali in broad daylight.

In a shameful act of violence, Rajesh Dogra (45)AKA Mohan, was shot down in Mohali, near CP 67 mall, in broad daylight.

Dogra, a resident of Jammu & Kashmir, was reported trailing with two associates, taking a halt in Mohali for personal reasons. As per the reports, the attackers fired 18 shots, with 10 hitting the target, who died on the spot.

Police suspect the involvement of 5 gangsters, with the motive being the gang rivalry amongst them.

Police have arrested one of the associates of Dogra, while another one has fled the scene, who is believed to be involved in the death of the victim to a greater extent. Notably, both Dogra and his companions have a history of criminal activity, with Dogra being recently freed from prison. 

CCTV analysis has revealed that 4 persons were involved in carrying out the shooting. After the transfer of the Victim’s body to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6, officials returned to the crime scene for further investigation and to discuss the findings.

SSP Mohali Sandeep Garg said, “CCTV cameras have captured five men escaping in two cars — one Creta bearing Jammu registration number and another Innova with Chandigarh numberplate. Teams have already been dispatched to different directions and we will soon arrest the assailants.”

Though the police have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be taking place and the suspects involved in the incident will be put behind bars shortly, this has raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in Mohali. These kinds of shootings have shown the audacity of the criminals and left the residents with a question of vulnerability. The residents have demanded for more police presence, to put a leash on the gangsters. This is a second gang-related shootout within a week, raising serious concerns about the security,
