Fake Job Promises Land Two in Mohali Police Net

Two individuals in Mohali, Punjab, have been booked by the police for allegedly duping people with promises with promises of securing government jobs. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of job scams that prey on individuals seeking employemtn opportunities.

The details of the two separate cases remain unclear, and authorities haven’t released the names of the accused as of yet. However, according to a report filed on April 30,2024, by the Phase-11 police station, one of the accused allegedly duped a couple out of a significant sum – Rs 18.76 lakh- by promising them a governement job at Panjab University.

The other case, registered by the Mataur police station, involves a woman who allegedly targeted residents in the Sector 70 area. The woman, residing as a tenant in the house of the complainant’s uncle, reportedly claimed connection with individuals in the Mohali court complex who were looking for job candidates. This modus operandi suggests the accused may have lured victims with the promise of securing coveted court-relation positions.

These incidents are not isolated occurences. In September 2023, The Tribune reported on the arrest of one individual and the booking of several others in Mohali for similar offenses. The accused in that case allegedly promised governemtn jobs and even assistnace in cheating during examinations.

The prevalnce of such scams highlights the vulnerability of job seekers, espcially those desperate for secure and well-paying government positions. Fraudsters often exploit this sesperation by making unrealistic promises and creating a sense of urgency.

These recent cases serve as a reminder for job seekers to exercise caution and conduct thorough research before committing to any job offer, especially those involving government positions. It is noteworthy, that most government agencies have official websites listing current job opening and application procedures and should be visited before falling prey to these scams.
