Mandatory for each retailer to issue a bill for every transaction above Rs 200 at Marble Market

The Excise & Taxation Department, UT., Chandigarh today i.e. on 27.04.2022 organized an held a meeting with Marble Market Association, Dhanas presided over by Sh. Randhir Singh, Assistant Excise & Taxation Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh for sensitising the public on issuance of bills.

Arun Kumar, Pradeep Rawal and Partap Singh and Deepak Bhatt, Excise & Taxation Officers and Anand Gupta, President, Shri Ram Vice President, Rohit Singla, Secretary, Vinod Bansal, Cashier and Ashok Aggarwal and other members of Marble Market Assiciation were also present during the meeting.

Randhir Singh, Asstt. Excise & Taxation Commissioner apprised the present members that department is launching a campaign on issuance of bills by shopkeepers. To create awareness among the masses, the department had already pasted stickers in shops, aired jingles on FM Radio, playing video clips on Cinema Screens.

Singh informed the members that it is mandatory for each retailer to issue a bill for every transaction above Rs. 200. If demanded, the shopkeeper has to issue a bill even if the transaction is less than Rs. 200.The defaulters will have to bear a fine of Rs. 25,000 or will be penalized as per the provisions laid down in GST Act 2017, whichever is higher for evasion of tax. During the interaction, the Department’s officers also addressed the issues of the shopkeepers and assured cooperation.
