Punjab’s sportspersons leave for Delhi to return their awards

Sportspersons decorated with prestigious Padam Shri, Arjuna Award, and Dronacharya award left for Delhi today to return their awards to President of India in protest against the three farms laws to show solidarity with the protesting farmers. They paid obeisance at the historical Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib before starting for Delhi.

They are led by Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee wrestler Kartar Singh, Arjuna awardee basketball player Sajjan Singh Cheema and Arjuna awardee hockey player Rajbir Kaur.

Olympian Ajit Singh said that more than 18 leading sportspersons from the state will go to Delhi tomorrow to return their awards to the President of India as the government has enacted the Farm Bills.

They said that they have extended their support to the agitating farmers and will return their awards in protest against the “force” used against the peasants en route to Delhi and for not repealing the farm laws.
