As many as 225 bicycles will be run as part of the public bicycle sharing project in the first phase. For this, 25 docking stations will be built. The project will be launched after the company’s trial ends on December 3.
In the second week of December, administrator VP Singh Badnore will flag off the project. Smart City CEO KK Yadav said that it was planned to commence this project in November. For this, arrangements were made to run 100 bicycles from 10 docking stations in the city, but the company sought time till December 3 for the trial of the app that has been built to lock and unlock the bicycles.
There will be 150 e-cycles and 75 paddle cycles for the bicycle sharing project.. Most of the new docking stations have been built around Sector 17 and 22.
Docking stations for the bicycle sharing project will be built at these 15 places
Sector 1 – Near the entrance of Punjab and Haryana High Court and near the Punjab Civil Secretariat Pantry
Sector 17 – Near Municipal Corporation Office, near Ahuja, near HDFC Bank, near TDI Mall, near Gymkhana, opposite RBI
Sector 22 – Near Rickshaw Stand and bus shelter, near Hotel Piccadilly, near SCO no. 2422, near Government Animal Hospital
Sector 35 – Near Bang Bhawan and Lord of Parties
Sector 43 – Near Hotel Amara.
To use the cycles in the bicycle sharing project, each person must submit one of their documents on the stand. People borrowing the cycles with smart cards will be charged ₹5 per hour. Those who do not have a card will have to pay ₹10. One will also be able to book the cycles online through the app. At the same time, one can lock and unlock the bicycle from the app itself.
Bicycles will be connected to the GPS system and if it goes beyond the range of the server, then an alert will be sent to the control room and docking station.
