7,500 cops of Chandigarh Police to get Covid vaccine

In the upcoming coronavirus vaccination drive, the field police personnel will also be given the doses of the Covishield vaccine. A list of around 7,500 cops of Chandigarh Police is being prepared according to Manoj Kumar Meena, SP, Police Headquarters and Crime Branch.

The report will be submitted in the next two days to the Ministry of Health. Six days ago, the Ministry had decided to vaccinate the frontline employees first during the corona vaccination drive. Under this, after the staff of the Health Department, police personnel will be vaccinated.

During the whole lockdown period, policemen were of frontline duty, including Chandigarh Police, Home Guards Jawans and police personnel of Burail Jail. 

On behalf of Chandigarh Police, SP Manoj Kumar Meena was appointed as the nodal officer for Covid. SP City Vineet Kumar was appointed on behalf of Home Guard Jawan and AIG Virat on behalf of Burail Jail. The list is being prepared under their supervision.

The curfew was imposed on March 24 in the city and a total of 208 police personnel of Chandigarh Police, including SP City Vineet Kumar, DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel, Inspector Dilbag Singh, had tested positive for Coronavirus. So far, 196 policemen have recovered from the disease, while 12 policemen are under treatment. 

Moreover, Maloya Police Station, Sector-61 Police Post, Panjab University Police Beat Box, Sector-26 Police Line and Sector-9 Police Headquarters were also sealed in this period.
