25,000 doses of CoviShield vaccine to reach Chandigarh in three days

In the first phase of Corona vaccination drive, the central government will give 25,000 doses of Covishield vaccine to Chandigarh.

According to sources, this Covishield vaccine stock will reach the city in two to three days. First, the frontline workers of Health Department and Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) will be vaccinated. The vaccination campaign is expected to begin within two to four days after the arrival.

The Health Department has made arrangements at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, and Civil Hospital, Sector-22, to keep the stock of the Covishield vaccine. On the other hand, the dry run to be held on January 8 has also been changed. Now, dry runs will be only held at GMSH-16 and GMCH-32.

Five vaccination officers will be present at each centre who will oversee the entire process. One of them will vaccinate the patients, while the four other officers will look after the beneficiary, from the verification process to monitoring the vaccination.

As the number of beneficiaries increases, the number of officers will also be increased, but there will be no change in the process.  A team of experts has been set up to avoid adverse situations during the vaccination drive. The team consists of neurologists, cardiologists and pulmonary experts.
