As many schools have not opened yet due to Covid, many students are not able to go to school and some don’t have resources such as mobile or laptop to study. Due to this problem, the government has started the PM e-Vidya programme.
In PM e-Vidya programme, teaching work will be done through Direct-to-Home (DTH) where teachers from all over the country are recording video and audio lectures for e-education. Following the proposal of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), more than 20 teachers of the city’s government schools are voluntarily making video and audio lectures for it.
Content of all subjects for each class from 1 to 12 will be prepared under PM E-Vidya programme. The duration of this e-content is six hours for each class. Radio, community radio and podcast services will also be used in it. Moreover, special e-content will be prepared for visually impaired and hearing-impaired children. It is developed on Digitally Accessible Information System (DAISY) and in sign language on NIOS website/ YouTube.
Chandigarh SCERT director Surinder Singh Dahiya said that NCERT had asked for teachers who wanted to volunteer for the programme. A government school teacher said that before the opening of school, he had recorded 5-6 lectures for the e-learning programme in a studio in Mohali, so that video and audio could be produced in high quality.
