15 crore budget announced for Harike wetland

Inaugurating a park constructed at a cost of ₹1.25 crore in Vidhan Sabha constituency Patti, Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal stated that the state government will spend ₹15 crore on harnessing the potential of Harike wetland and make it a tourism hub.

Badal said, “₹15 crore has been earmarked for this purpose in this year’s budget. Work would soon be started after the monsoon season.”

On the question of recruitment for jobs, the minister said that Captain Amarinder Singh has already announced to provide 50,000 jobs in government sector in the upcoming year. Apart from this, the state government has filled 4,200 posts in Health Department to tackle Covid-19 pandemic, besides filling the 1,500 posts in Medical Education Department, he added.

On the demand of MLA Harminder Singh Gill, Badal also announced a grant of ₹35 lakh for the construction of a modern library and ₹50 lakh for the construction of another park in Patti.

Thanking the minister, Gill informed that a Law University was being constructed on 25 acres at Kairon village and the academic session would commence soon. The work of laying sewerage in 35 villages of Patti is under progress, he said.

On the occasion, member of Parliament Jasbir Singh Gill (Dimpa), deputy comissioner Kulwant Singh, SSP DH Nimble and Chairman District Planning Committee Jagtar Singh Burj were also present.
